9th District Democratic Party Candidate
Bill Ferguson
Blasts Boston Globe-WBZ
"Whites-Only" Debate --

"What They Don't Want the Citizens
to Hear"

On Friday, August 3, the Boston Globe and WBZ-TV4 held a rigged debate for the Democratic Party Party nomination for the 9th Congressional District seat, left vacant by the death of Congressman Joe Moakley. Despite a July 28th editorial in the Boston Globe, in which the Globe editorial staff blasted the "invidious" practice of excluding qualified candidates from candidate debates -- and went so far as to associate such practice with the "racist poll tax abolished by the 24th amendment" -- the Globe and WBZ took the stance of Southern Partisan supporter and Harvard University's William Yandell Elliot, and excluded Mr. Ferguson -- the only African-American candidate -- from the venue. Mr. Ferguson was the first Democratic Party candidate to be certified by the Secretary of the Commonwealth for the Democratic Party Primary, and presented documentation to that effect when "whited out" by the Globe and WBZ.

In an Open Letter circulated before the debate, Massachusetts State Senator Bill Owens stated: "I feel very strongly that it is time we stop allowing the media to name our leaders and unfairly influence the outcome of elections. ... I have known Bill Ferguson to be a passionate fighter for economic justice, in the areas of housing and energy policy; he and Mr. LaRouche have for years warned of the global financial and economic crash which we are now suffering and the solutions he has to offer must be given a hearing in this Congressional race."

In commenting on the rigged Globe-WBZ debate, candidate Ferguson remarked on exactly this point. "What was telling about the debate", Mr. Ferguson stated, "was the banality of the media questions, and the criminal avoidance at all costs of mentioning the real crises facing Americans . The citizens in my District, as well as all Americans today -- are staring in the face the worst systemic financial crisis in centuries. Most of the problems they are enduring, come from the symptoms of that ongoing, and accelerating economic collapse.

"Mr. LaRouche's warnings of the `systemic crisis' that has accelerated over the last 35 years since President Nixon ended the Bretton Woods System in 1971, are now being echoed internationally. On August 3rd, the same day as the Globe-WBZ rigged debate, the German daily Die Welt quoted a global chief strategist for the investment banking division of Dresdner Bank, Albert Edwards, warning of a "triggering of earthquakes on worldwide markets" on Tuesday, August 7th, when the U. S. government presents productivity figures for the second quarter. These figures, says Edwards, will reveal that the American economic miracle was nothing but fiction, financed by the Federal Reserve. This is `the last nail in the coffin of the New Economy,' states Edwards. It is `dynamite for markets; the investors will be shocked to death." On July 28th, U. S. economist James K. Galbraith bluntly told the Australian Financial Review that America's economic bubble is going to burst, and that the world requires a new regulatory financial architecture, such as that of Bretton Woods."

Mr. Ferguson continued, "My associate, Democratic Party 2004 Democratic Presidential pre-candidate Lyndon LaRouche, held a webcast on July 24th in which he discussed this crisis and its solution with an international audience. The solution is clear, and has been outlined by Mr. LaRouche in numerous locations, over a long period of time. The question is, do the people of the U. S. and other nations have sufficient intelligence and moral strength to acknowledge the fact of Democratic Party 2004 candidate Lyndon LaRouche's unique economic and political competence at the time that the world's monetary and financial system is now doomed?"

"I encourage all responsible and interested parties to read Mr. LaRouche's comments, and the discussion of the international participants at that webcast, which are archived on Mr. LaRouche's website at http://www.larouchein2004.com. This is the discussion that must be had in the 9th Congressional District Democratic Party Primary campaign. The victim of my exclusion, is you, the citizen.".
